God is moving in the Dominican Republic!

Join Our Mission: Teaching English to Haitian Children in Juan Tomas, Dominican Republic

Are you looking for a meaningful way to make a difference? We are seeking 5-10 dedicated volunteers to join us in a pilot program aimed at teaching English to children ages 7-10 from the Haitian diaspora in Juan Tomas, Dominican Republic. This initiative will take place this summer at Fountain of Life, a pre-K through 12th-grade school committed to providing quality education and holistic development for the community.

About the Program

Purpose: To introduce young Haitian learners to English through engaging, interactive lessons in a supportive, faith-based environment.
Format: A one-week, half-day camp focused on foundational language skills, cultural exchange, and relationship-building.
Location: Fountain of Life School, Juan Tomas, Dominican Republic.
Dates: June 28th - July 5th, 2025


Volunteer Roles & Responsibilities

Assist in teaching basic English vocabulary and phrases through structured activities.
Engage children in games, songs, and hands-on learning experiences.
Support and encourage a positive learning atmosphere.
Foster relationships with students, building confidence and enthusiasm for learning.
Work alongside local educators and community leaders to ensure an impactful program.


Who We Are Looking For

We welcome individuals with a heart for service and passion for education. No prior teaching experience is necessary, just a willingness to learn, collaborate, and engage with the children.

Ideal candidates include:

  • College students seeking mission experience
  • Educators or aspiring teachers
  • Individuals fluent in English (Spanish or Haitian Creole a plus but not mandatory)
  • Church groups, community service groups, or corporate teams

Logistics & Support

  • Volunteers will receive training and guidance before and during the program.
  • Housing, meals, and transportation details will be provided upon acceptance.
  • Fundraising opportunities may be available to help cover travel costs.
  • Fees to participate, inclusive of all accommodation, food, transportation on island, and insurance for the week: $504
  • Airfare not included
